Urban Slug Walk
Presented by GSU Geosciences
Feeling sluggish? So are we! Come on out on a slug filled adventure (We hope! The cold temperatures may hamper our discoveries a bit!) where we'll use our eagle eyes to search for these slimy and fascinating creatures, and learn all about them as we hike through Sykes Park! Download the iNaturalist app beforehand, and we’ll use that to identify what we find and contribute data to the Atlanta SLIME (Snails and slugs Living In Metropolitan Environments) project!
Please note that parking is limited. Carpool if you can!
Scroll down for information about COVID safety guidelines for this event.
The park has two parking lots, one along Beech Dr and the other along Earl Godfrey Circle, within the park.
Take the MARTA Gold to the East Point Station and then take the 84 Bus/Social Security Administration Office to Stone Rd & Dodson Dr Connector which is a 0.3 mile walk to the park.
This event is outdoors. Masks are not required per CDC guidelines if you are able to maintain social distance of at least 6 feet from others not in your party. However, masks are strongly recommended when participating in sustained interaction near others (e.g., guided hikes, hands-on station activities, etc).
As with all ASF events, we ask you to take care of yourself and your community. Stay home if you feel ill, get vaccinated and mask up when in close proximity to others!
