Skate School: The Science of Roller Derby

Roller Derby skaters can spin, jump, and slam into one another all while staying upright on roller skates. We’re opening one special practice session at our facility in Mableton to the public so that we can show you the science behind how these moves happen. Adults and families are welcome to learn and play games (not on skates) as we explore topics like the physics of skating, the neuroscience of sports, and the microbes that get shared in close contact. Atlanta Roller Derby league members will be scrimmaging throughout the science, so come watch and learn. Parking at the Atlanta Roller Derby practice space is free and plentiful in an open lot. Please park in the first lot you turn into after leaving Veteran's Memorial Highway. Please do not drive past the fences on either side of the building.
