Join us for an interactive evening to highlight local advances in sports science and technology, and to promote concussion awareness and sports safety. Hear from Emory and Georgia Tech scientists who have developed an innovative technology to detect concussion on the field. Visit interactive stations featuring helmet fitting, hydration essentials, muscle strength and jumping, sports science and applied physiology. Meet the scientists, physicians, trainers, students and athletes working to keep sports safe. Presented by

7:00 - 7:30pm. Science Cheerleaders will call our attention to the main stage as innovators from Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology and the Georgia Tech Research Institute lead an exciting demonstration of their prototype medical device named iDETECT that helps screen and assess concussion on the sidelines of sporting events. Brian Finneran of Atlanta’s Sports Radio station 680 The Fan, will lead an engaging panel discussion with student athletes, NFL players, coaches, and athletic trainers about how important it is to know the signs and symptoms of concussion, to help spread awareness, and to be aware of the great scientific resources available to help with diagnosis, care and prevention. Panelists include TJ Barnes (NY Jets player, Georgia Tech alumnus), Tim Byerly (starting QB for Georgia Tech), David Wright (Emory University), Michelle LaPlaca (Georgia Tech), Jeff Hopp (Georgia Athletic Trainers' Association). More details...
